MARCH ON CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

By Al Garcia

There seems to be a disconnect in America today between Christianity and Religiosity.  It seems that one can now be “religious” without being a Christian, and a Christian without faith.

Being a Christian is possessing a belief, a practice and an attitude of love, understanding and tolerance toward your fellow man, without regard to color, race or ethnicity, and observing ethical and moral values and truths that uplift the dignity and spirit of yourself and your fellow man.

Religiosity is the state of being superficially religious -- to demonstrate an exaggerated piety and spiritual zeal without possibly the actuality of understanding or acceptance of the idea, the concept or the vision that defines the better of us and the promise of us.

Greed, power and self-aggrandizement has replaced the canons of faith that had for so long withstood the ties of time and the arrogance of man.  The lure of malevolent indignation is the new gospel heard at the gatherings of the new disciples, who profess religion but remain at enmity with those that still believe the truth that hung on an old rugged cross, stained with blood and with tears, on a hill called Calvary.

The new disciples may deceive themselves, but they cannot deceive the hearts and souls of Christian soldiers, who tread where saints have trod and triumphed.  But unlike the evil that seeks to deceive and to divide, we are strong, united, and revived as one body, one hope, one nation -- in charity and faith -- standing tall and looking upward toward that hill at Calvary, where once our faith was tested and survived.

March on Christian soldiers, with dignity and resolve.  Hate will not divide nor break our spirit or our faith.  For hate feeds upon itself and will devour the beast within that let loose the phantoms of deceit.
