An observation on the human condition

You go to a nice restaurant and sit down and the waiter brings you nice sparkling glass of ice filled mineral water. You bring it to your lips and it’s crisp and cutting in the heat of the day. You savor it in your mouth you feel it satisfying drip down your throat. Soon you look and the glass hasn’t left your hand and your pouring another. It tastes so good for water and it’s so refreshing and you can’t stop drinking. You get lost in the moment and realize the bottle is gone and immediately want another even though your stomach is full of water. It begins to hurt and you wonder why you’re still thirsty. You’ve fallen victim to an old scam of putting fortified water at a table inflating it’s value and constantly refreshing it. The more you drink the thirstier you get and before you know it your dinner bill is three times as much and you’re thirsty still.
Attention is a lot like mineral water. You crave it, you devour it but the more you get the more you want. We all have our vices we hide from the world as we gulp down something that looks good but isn’t good for us. True refreshment comes in unexpected places at unexpected times to those with a refined palate. Stay lonely my friends
