LIKE TUMBLEWEEDS IN THE WIND

By Al Garcia

Lonely people, walking lonely and deserted streets, like tumbleweeds in the wind – twisted, tumbling balls of dead foliage, rolling aimlessly to nowhere.

The Coronavirus has left us battered, bruised and beaten.  We are consumed with the spreading fear that is weakening the once resilient spirit that has withstood the passing epochs of existence.

There is a feeling of despair in the air, and a disquiet in the human heart.  Unable to hold each other’s hand, unable to caress the heaving chest that cries and seeks to feel the reassuring warmth that used to take away the pain.  Alone, in a world gone mad.  Frighten by an unseen force that ravishes the human soul and staggers the human mind.  We have become lonely people, walking lonely and deserted streets, like tumbleweeds in the wind.
