Is there a truth, or just a derivation of my mind. I am not sure, but I know that she is always there....

“I see her in my dreams every night….”

I cannot remember when exactly she started coming to my dreams, only that she is always there every night. I cannot remember her finer details, such as the look of her face nor the color of her eyes, but I do know that when I wake up there is a lingering trace of memory that she does not look the same every time. I do, however remember her hair, always the color of shining chestnut brown that runs down in long wavy locks that drape delicately over her slender shoulders and tips that just slightly caress the small of her back. She has a slender frame, maybe weighing no more than one hundred and thirty pounds, with smooth cream-colored skin, sometimes hidden behind an elegant dress and sometimes behind normal everyday clothes. I cannot tell you which one I prefer. She is always by my side.

When she comes to me during the dark of night, sometimes we are a couple that are madly in love, always laughing and holding one another, and sometimes we are past lovers that get along reminiscing about shared times past, other times we do not always fighting and never look the other in the eye. Sometimes she is a wife while I go about my day serving our country in uniform, mother of my children and upholder of our wonderful family. other times we are running for our lives in impossible situations such as a zombie horde. Gnawing and clawing dead flesh hungering ravenously after me and her perfect form as we clamor through dark and rainy alleyways, enjoying each moment of reprieve. She is always by my side.

Even when the nights where we do not get along start to come to an end and I can feel myself waking up, she always brings my head into her lap, gently stroking my hair and telling me that it is ok, that I will be fine. As I stare up at the face that I know I will never remember, A small bit of peace comes to my weary form as I enjoy the final embrace of the night. Content in the fact that, she is always by my side.

“She fades with the coming sun….”
