THE PROMISE

By Al Garcia

Time allows us many things.  Among them the luxury of looking back at everything we have ever done, and said, or thought.  Time to reflect, time to pronder, and time to even wonder.

For some too early, for others too late, we learn that each day is not a time to squander.  Days are not meant to be simply tucked away, or something to walk away from, nor to forget or regret.  Each day is a special treasure filled with emotions, sensations and passions.  Each day unveils the promise of you.

You brought joy and laughter, and even tears, to your parents the day they held you in their arms for the very first time.  And for your brothers and sisters, you were the little brother or sister they had been waiting for.  Later on, they may have thought differently when you began to crawl, and then walk, and then talk.  But even then, you helped to make their childhood a wonderous and joyous time.  You were a promise come to life.

So, embrace each day and each season.  For time is the measure of a life lived and shared, and of days consumed by dreams and whimsical imaginations of what lays beyond the fleeting seconds that pass us by.

Time to remember the laughter and the smiles.  Time to recall those gone but not forgotten.  Time to enjoy the sunsets and the moonlights yet to come.  Time to fulfill the promise of you.

No time to squander the treasure that is you . . .
