Remember when history was taught in school and children learned the facts that changed the world, and learned about the ideals and principles that united our Republic? Remember when the Nation waited in awe, respect and admiration as our President spoke to the Nation, and we sat in silence and listened? Remember when children were told to look to the President as a role model of what it meant to be an American?

SHIP OF FOOLS

By Al Garcia

Remember when history was taught in school and children learned the facts that changed the world, and learned about the ideals and principles that united our Republic?  Remember when the Nation waited in awe, respect and admiration as our President spoke to the Nation, and we sat in silence and listened?  Remember when children were told to look to the President as a role model of what it meant to be an American?

The days of facts, truth and moral fitness are now things our children are only learning about as part of the history of the America that used to be.  They are not experiencing it like we once did.  The moral compass of America is in the shop.  And so, our Ship of State and its Captain are steering aimlessly and rudderless through choppy waters of world affairs and national chaos.  We are a nation adrift in a sea of sharks waiting to devour the remnants of what was once the lighthouse to the world.

When once Americans and their children were the epitome of the enlightened society in a world gone mad, today we are descending the spiral steps into the darkness of anarchy and mayhem, not because of the inevitable, but because of idiocy and arrogance.  We are being trained to question truth, to deconstruct reality, and to fabricate what we are asked to see, regardless of the actuality before us.

Just imagine what our Nation will look like, what our children will be like, what we are becoming.  Instead of the leader America was once, we have become the poster nation for the decline of decency and morality of a nation and of a people.  And we keep silent, while the world watches in amazement.

And as our ship of state floats aimlessly into new and uncharted waters, and dawdles dangerously on the verge of sinking, we watch open-mouthed and silent, like passengers on a ship of fools, adrift and rudderless, waiting to go down with the ship, while the captain and crew watch from afar in the safety of their lifeboat.  What kind of fools have we become?

America has changed.  Americans have changed.  Instead of looking forward, we are looking back to the worst of our times – to the vilest of our nation’s episodes, and to the cruelest of our human instincts.  America has become a nation of weaklings, cowards and wimps.  We have but to look at ourselves in the mirror, and at our elected leaders, to see the vanquished face of defeat and despair.  What centuries of wars and conflicts with our enemies and adversaries could not accomplish – the defeat or overthrow of our republic and our democracy -- we are now doing to ourselves.  We have extinguished the flame that kept alive a dream, and doused the smoldering embers of hope – the idea and ideals that kept alive the American experience.

Our ship has sailed – and we find ourselves adrift and rudderless.  America is teetering on the verge of collapse and chaos, while those in power idly and apathetically watch and wait, refusing to throw out life preservers to those of us sinking in the rising waves of lies, deceit and corruption that is bringing down the ship.

Our Ship of State and its Captain and crew have deliberately steered our nation into a mighty storm.  In other times, and in less treacherous waters, a mutiny would have righted the ship’s course and direction.  Instead, we are but a ship of fools, waiting for the inevitable.

The most frightening thing of all, is knowing how many passengers aboard the ship (“MAGAmates”) are willing to go down with the ship, and possibly bring down a nation.
