INNOCENCE BETRAYED

By Al Garcia

As we walk along the path of destiny, oblivious to the cautionary counsel of the silenced voices of the past, whispering their cries of hope, despair and warning, we cannot but observe the flailing, thrashing remnants of forsaken legions gone before, beckoning revenge and retribution.

And, blinded by the lies of witless titans, answerable only to their own conscious, the beguiled innocent march obediently and unquestioning, unaware of the consequential perils of misguided allegiances, deceits and deceptions.

They are solitary faces in solitary places.  Their fate and their destiny perceived and foreseen, and soon to be stained with wetted tears, matted on rivers of crimson.  The eloquence of their short-lived life extinguished.  A casualty of misguided allegiances, deceits and deceptions.

They were innocence betrayed.
