Jays Squander 5-1 Lead

A recap of last night's Toronto/Boston Game One.

The Toronto Blue Jays let last night's game slip away, losing 6-5 to the Boston Red Sox after being ahead 5-1.

Teoscar Hernandez put the Jays ahead 1-0 at the top of the first inning, driving in Bo Bichette with a single.

Bichette put the Jays up 2-0 by driving in Reese McGuire with a single at the top of the second inning.

Later in the inning, Hernandez drove in Bichette with a single.

In the bottom of the third inning, Bobby Dalbec hit a solo home run.

At the top of the sixth inning, Vladmir Guerrero Jr. hit a two run homer.

Things fell apart for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the sixth.

First, Hunter Renfro drove in Alex Verdugo with a single.

Then, the Jays walked in a run.

Finally, Christain Vazquez scored on a wild pitch.

in the bottom of the eighth inning, Christian Arroyo tied the game with a solo home run.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Verdugo drove in Danny Santana to win the game for Boston.

Alex Verdugo drives in the game winning run.

Verdugo went three for four at the plate and had a RBI.

Boston's starting pitcher, Garrett Richards went 5.1 innings, alloiwing 11 hits, four earned runs, two walks, and struck out three batters.

Guerrero Jr. went three for four at the plate and had two RBIs.

Jay's starting pitcher, Ross Stripling went 5.2 innings, allowing five hits, four earned runs, two walks, and struck out six batters.

Game Two is later this afternoon.
