contemplating life and home

I’m sitting here on a bunch of rocks. It’s been 3 years since I left home. I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. I have to ponder life. I remember when I was young, grand dad would put me on his lap and tell me stories about when he was young and how he met grandma. I’m left with only the remains of grand dad. But you know he always said “look on the brighter side.” Tears start rushing down my face. I’m now staring off to the middle of nowhere, contemplating my future and where it’s headed. I’m thinking about wherever the wind takes me. Grand dad always did say” there were no one final path that one takes, there are many, many paths that one can take”. He always told me that when I was younger, to strive to be the best and for the best. These are lessons I take to heart, especially now, when grand dad is not around anymore. It’s getting cold and dark. I must head home where I will find the right spot on this land to spread his ashes. He said a place where there’s no disturbance, where the grass is green, maybe a nice field and nowhere near water. So I get up and grab my thermos that was filled with hot chocolate and I head home. Home where home feels comforting. Home, where home feels welcoming. Home, where home feels right and where grand dad’s ashes lay for the time being.
