By day Windy Hill Farm is a commercial breeder / sales of Beefmaster cattle. By night it is Mississippi's spook central. Generations of managers, farm hands, and the owners family haunt where they once called home.

Windy Hill Farms along highway 26 in Poplarville Mississippi is the most haunted industrial farm I've encountered. The extreme back pastures are the worst. Seldom is there a night when the ghost of a past owner or manager isn't walking the shortcut between the remote fence line and the nearby settlement of Bazor Town. I've heard the old farmer / rancher talking to what,I presume, was or is his dog. Each time the voice and the barking caused me to stop, to listen, and to turn hoping to see someone or something. I've not seen an apparition with the occurrence.

I spoke to two former managers of Windy Hill Farms who affirm with their hand on the Bible and under penalty of perjury the voices, the occurrence is 100% real. And like me, the manager's daughter, they haven't determined who or what they heard.

There are other apparitions floating around the houses and barns on Windy Hill Farms. My step uncle, if there is such , and my sister saw what they both described as a headless man wielding a machete and  wearing a plain white cotton t-shirt. This partial body apparition chased the teens. My step uncle was 16 and my sister was 13. I cannot say under penalty what they saw but, I'll vow a sacred oath that they saw something and they  both believe they told the truth.

The strangest apparition is that of a fairly attractive co worker of the property owner.Doc. I don't recall her name or station in life. But, the name Angela comes to mind. The confirmed status of her  being a co-worker indicated she was a college professor at the University of New Orleans or possibly she was a cardiac surgeon like Doc. As hired help we were obligated to respect her privacy. While she was a guest of Windy Hill Farms she mysteriously died. The hushed report was the lady committed suicide.

No one thought to do a wellness check. The image of the guest was seen several times by the manager and three farm hands. When Monday Morning dawned it was assumed she had returned to her job and city apartment. Her decomposing body was discovered when buzzards alerted the manager to what he expected to be a dead cow ,calf, or horse.

The most frightening thing to happen at the farm was the. Death and resurrection of my black Burmese cat. " Pretty Baby, " had met her demise on highway 26 directly in front of Windy Hill farm. Her body lay on the asphalt for days. Then on, I believe it was the 4th day my cat jumped through the window causing my phonograph to begin playing. The song wasn't important " How High is the Water'' by Johnny Cash. Mother, step father,my sister and I were shocked when the cat returned to life.
