Castle Fear welcomes you, not.

Castle Fear

In the sunny fluffy clouded sky a solo bird, an off course gull encircled  the grey monolithic castle.  The mindless creature landed on the roof of the only Great Hall.  Its cawing was heard by humans below.  Inside toasting the new year in.  The gathering of people even saluted the Monarch.

The party of ten were bemused when the servants and host seemed to vanish.  All the horses and carriages were taken.  It was the special way to the castle.  The year was of no importance.  Except that every ten years since Robert the Bruce, visitors always died in, Castle Fear.

As drinks were downed and four quests were being ill, the others noticed them choking and turning grey.  The unknown diners died instantly.  The lucky six moved away from the long serving table.  It had been lain for a full banquet.  Music played from the wind-up gramophone.  It played ancient Celtic dance tunes.  When it jumped, a scream was heard from above the Great Hall.

It caused one of the six to have a stroke and collapse very dead. The dumb gull was very confused.  These humans seemed to be doomed to all come to a nasty end.  It swooped off the rectangle stone wall of the hall.  To the turret walls that surrounded the modest sized fortress.  Nothing seemed obvious the place was a mystery.

*

The five humans gathered by the great hearth.  Crossed Swords lay hung above.  The fire burned wildly on that dark winter night.  It was Burn’s Night with no haggis in sight.  Two men reached for the deadly blades. One man caused the other to fall and land on the cracked skull of his friend.  In shock the armed man caused his sword to fall into the fire.  Flames flew into his face and torso.  He soon became a human towering inferno.  And very dead.

The remaining trio, moved carefully away.  To the big double doors out of the Great Hall.  Outside the gull sensed the fire trouble and flapped away from the Castle and onto its name sign, next to the only road back to civilization.  Under its clawed feet the sign read, Castle Fear.  Next to a barrel of gunpowder.  A black trail lead to the doors of the Great Hall.

*

From the Great Hall more chills and screams were heard.  As the big oak doors erupted with the gunpowder’s help, splinters of wood and ancient Scottish nails smashed into the trio of men.  The two men died instantly.  Leaving the last of the ten men, to crawl out of Great Hall and fortress.

The man found the sign, Castle Fear.  Looking at the gull above, he asked why?  The Albatross soared away into the night.  Never to visit there again.  It laughed all the way, back to Hell.  Leaving in the lone man to drown in a deadly moat.

Remember, the Grim Reaper can appear as any creature.  So never call at His favourite place.  The chilling killing Great Hall of, CASTLE FEAR…
