Contrasting mood poems (the other poem is titled Winter Rebirth.)

A solitary, obscure snowflake
Falls slowly from the gray, colourless sky.
As cold as frigid ice, biting my raw skin,
Like the frozen heart buried deep within.
The endless dark thoughts in my head
Tell me I’d be much better off dead,
They say I’m too helpless and weak
To ever find the heavenly happiness that I seek.
And perhaps in the end they are ultimately right,
It’s the inevitable truth, there is no point to fight.
After all, fragile flowers, stems ever so thin,
Were never meant to withstand the howling wind.
Trapped beneath suffocating snow, unable to survive,
Never meant to win against the wind nor pull through winter alive.
