A poem about growth and dreams and personality. I didn’t write this for any particular reason.

Shatter Dust

So deep

So hidden

So lost

So far beneath

The winter’s frost

In these tombs of sunken stone

Forgotten

Languishing

All alone

Here I find they’ve finally gathered

The dust of everything ever shattered

A life

A hope

A dream or six

Scattered in the midst of this

A pile of dust

Untouched by the sun

Searched for by all

And found by none

No one but me

No one but you

Here we’ve found they’ve finally gathered

The broken pieces of everything shattered

In the dark they turned to rust

Pieces of rust turn to dust

See that glass

Seems so blue

Did that piece

Belong to you

What did it mean

How do you feel

It’s no longer whole

It’s barely real

Hold it tight

Inside your hand

Feel the pain

As it turns to sand

This piece of you

Has cut you deeply

See that shard

Seems to be

That this piece

Belonged to me

What it used to mean

How I used to feel

Was always a dream

It was never real

I held it once

Inside my hand

I felt the pain

As it turned to sand

A piece of me

Has cut me deeply

At last

Here are all our pieces

Laid to rest

But refusing to die

Getting in our eyes

Making us cry

Getting in our lungs

Making it hard to try

At last

We’ll leave them

Laid to rest

But refusing to die

They are now the sand

Picked up by warm hands

Crumbling away

Falling through gentle fingers

Who has loved you?

Love them too

Love them with all the

Sandy, sparkling pieces of you

So deep

So warm

So pure

Stretched all around

The oceans’ shore

A new life

A new hope

A new dream or six

Rising in the midst of this

A pile of dust

Finally touched by the sun

Searched for by all

Finally found by someone

See that glass

Seems so blue

Did that piece

Belong to you

See that shard

Seems to be

That this piece

Belonged to me

Here we’ve found they’ve finally gathered

The broken pieces of everything ever shattered

See the beauty left for us

That sparkles in our shatter dust

Weep all of your tears

Bare what you truly feel

These pieces of you

Have always been real
