An anachronism like me looking at our brave new world

Just A 40 Watt Incandescent Bulb In An LED World

I guess my best years are behind me

An all too familiar story that most will know is true

But if you can spare a moment

I’ll share my tale of woe with you

Just lately I can’t get a break

My life just goes from sad to worse

I’m just a 40 watt incandescent bulb in an LED universe

It wasn’t always like this

I grew up in a loving home

But somewhere in my travels

Fate decreed that I be alone

I’ve wandered and I’ve waited

Ever seeking  that special girl

But I guess I’m just a 40 watt incandescent bulb in an LED world

I strived for education

But academia wasn’t meant for me

Facts and figures leaked right out of my head

Faster than professors could teach me A, B,C

I’ll always be a diamond in the rough

My type can never be impearled

I’m just a 40 watt incandescent bulb in an LED world

I joined the workforce early

Young and strong but not too bright

Learned the lesson of the lowly

That Bossman is ALWAYS right

Bottling up frustration and anger

Best to keep that fist uncurled

I’m just a 40 watt incandescent bulb in an LED world

Now I’m twisted bent and broken

I’ve squandered my energy and youth

In me there’s no more human value

Society has gifted me this truth

Otherwise I never could afford it

This is the poor man’s curse

I’m just a 40 watt incandescent bulb

In an LED universe
