Nostalgia

The smell of morning dew on the grass and chocolate tea takes me back and back a ways

Takes me back to country days.

Takes me back to grandma's gaze.

Takes me back and back a ways.

to grandpa's horse's hooves clicking on the fresh clay ready to start a brand new day,

Take me back to days so long passed, yet not so long ago that fill me with a child-like glow

Memories rush like a flood of moonlit nights by the fire.

The winds howled and the fire growled like a mythical beast which grams would tame with the effortless skill to her will

And Christmas pudding would be the reward for her work

Time might have taken them away from us but they live in our treasured memories

I liked the beginning...I can tell you have worked with form poems...fly from the experience! I liked the imagery. I think the second part is more free form, and that you might want to work more with 'show don't tell.' You might want to try writing it backwards and see if you can develop it more.

thanks for the input, this is from my collection of early works done in 2006
I've just got to publishing them but the content was written to be reflective of the feeling and not the literary spectacle, just the pure joy of writing
