This is a story of the walks I took with my daughter Ariadne from the age of 3 months to 2 years 3 months. We walked in many parks around Taipei, in subway stations, along tree-lined streets, and at many other locations. For the first year we walked with her in her stroller, and from then she was on her feet (but still rode the stroller a lot). I made many changes to make her more comfortable and safe during the walks at all times. These were joyous times together, as I tried to teach her, read to her, feed her, and play with her. This is simply a story of father-daughter love, a universal theme. I have two chapters on the first two phases of the walks (in stroller and then walking with her on foot), a chapter on the follow-on period after our last walk (during which we still did much together, now with her mother), and a final chapter on “a father and his daughter,” and the magnificent lessons of love I learned during this experience, with philosophical reflections, looks at music, and other moral and theoretical considerations. The book contains selfies and other photos I took during the walks, and many personal anecdotes that I kept in my journals during this time. This is a one-on-one story, just one man and his daughter, the joy and love they experienced together (though they did in fact often interact with others). The common theme could be appealing to young adults of a fairly advanced level, and also adults.
