A poem about not telling a person close to you about your troubles because you know how they'll react.

Have I ever told you,

how I spent my nights

gazing at my ceiling

hoping against hope

that gone will be

this feeling?

Have I ever told you,

how my sentiments back there got the

better of me?

Have I ever told you,

how solitude prevails

like darkness

after the last lines of light leave?

Like scab you don’t want pick on,

like a scar you don’t want to see,

It’s still there.

Have I ever told you,

how those jerks in my class

thought it’d be

a good idea

to provoke me?

My outburst blemished my facade

but it screamed the brazen truth.

I haven’t.

I haven’t told you.

I’d get a rude reprimand.

All your considerate comments

would seem astonishingly bland.
