With Hullabaloo 22

Alarm Clock wakes me with a paw to the face,

Possibility of sleep disappears without a trace

Aptly-named ball of energy and claws

She knows not nor respects decency's laws

The crack of dawn finds her patience sapped,

She sees me sleeping and gives me get-up taps

How can she be made to understand “don’t?”

Groggily I stand give her what she wants, won’t

Brook any argument, this battle she’s won,

Stumble to make coffee and greet the rising sun!

The fact that patience is a virtue has escaped her altogether,

she wants to get on out there, regardless of the weather.

Before that coffee has a chance to give a caffeine kick

she’s sitting staring right at me – a mesmerizing trick

that takes over my body and it drags me to the door;

but then she’s back on top my bed and she begins to snore.

Believe me when I say I’ve tried to shut her out at night -

she wakes me up at midnight with a quite ‘alarming’ fight.

LOL! I used to have a cat that did this to me all the time! As cute as she was, she was really bossy and quite the terror. I only put up with her because I'm a sucker for how sweet she could be when she wanted to be as well as an awesome ridder of vermin. :)

Thank you, Amy; there's no doubt about it, we only THINK we're in charge, but Fluffy's driving the bus!

Love it!I think the tradeoff for having an animal that is smart enough to know where to poop, is also having an animal that is smart enough to know how to push all your buttons.

88 fingers

Great poem about cats making humans their own.
Had a cat years ago that would tap me on the side of the face to wake me up.
When I would wake up, we would be face to face. Him with his cat breath. Me with my morning breath
