Goodbye Kiss

Ana held it together

Until it was time for me to go

I was leaving and not coming back

When I stepped out the door

Her tears started to flow

Her stoney veneer began to crack

It was more than I could take

To see the pain that I caused her

My heart ached at Ana’s unabashed tears

It was right then that I realized

That although I hadn’t lost her

Ana would suffer for my pursuing a career

She caught me off guard

Always so poised and so strong

It hurt me seeing how I had hurt her so

In that moment I understood

That what I was doing was wrong

But by now I had no choice but to go

As I was leaving town I finally broke down

Salty tears stung my own eyes

Being driven to the airport

I wished I could  turn around

I was out of my mind to leave Ana behind

But my Daddy always told me a grown man never cries
