To me its simple and fits when you fear the answer to the question

Listening with out really knowing
Believing that no part was played
Our separate views are so isolating

Fears strength has made us weak
The choice words of being afraid
Lost in today, when it seems bleak

Once side by side, now divided
Assuming too much from so little
The past's ghosts have overrided

Action from nervous reaction
While caught in the middle
Confrontation within distraction

Who are we, where are we, do we see
A piece, at a price, won't bring peace
To ask why, to understand, is it greedy?

To choose, win or loose, what's to prove?
Deprived by self, a fallen grace
Eye to eye can't see the simple truth
