The question, the reason, the purpose of it all, has astounded Mankind since the beginning of time. . . . Yet, the answer is as old as creation itself.

ON GOSSAMER WINGS

By Al Garcia

The question, the reason, the purpose of it all, has astounded Mankind since the beginning of time.

Yet, the answer is as old as creation itself.

The clue to the answer, so fragile, so simple.

It drifts silently before our eyes, its beauty and grace a work of art.

Yet, in all the expanse of time, we have failed to comprehend the beauty of the clue to Mankind’s one unanswered riddle.

We have reached the point to where we dominate all creatures great and small.  We even rule our own destiny, with threats of total annihilation, extinction and obliteration.  And yet, we still keep asking what is my purpose, what lies beyond my own horizon?

Blinded by our own importance and presumed significance, we fail to see the answer before our very eyes.

It is the simple butterfly, with gossamer wings, ethereal and fragile. that keeps giving us the clue to life itself.

We are born, evolve, transformed in body and in mind, and for one brief moment on this floating globe of light, we attempt to reach the stars beyond.  But like the butterfly, with gossamer wings, fragile and delicate, our life extinguished before we realize the simple truth.  We are the butterfly.  We are the answer we have been searching for.  And then, the cycle begins again.
