I really love the mystery you set here. The tone of voice you set with Walter really makes me feel like I'm in the 1930s. The way the dialogue is set up with the characters makes me feel like I was set back in time. I do find it curious how he dreams of Jeanie before he has even met her. Your imagery is really poetic when you set it up. I feel like walter has got like an obssession with Jeanie now as he now keeps dreaming up about and now knows about her. It could make him seem like he's absoutly crazy to other people. Like when he defended about Jeanie's defense, it could have a crazy edge to it. I did hate how hollywood and even to this day, they are so cruel to women actresses. See them more as a shiny object and not their full potential. I was thinking about Judy garland tragic end at the moment. You've really captured the mystery and the tension throughout the chapter. Kind of like who is really Jeanie, also Walter involvement, so great job!:) You're doing awesome!

Tue, March 29th, 2022 4:38amThe combination of your narrative voice and the setting reminds me of Black Beauty with a hint of John Dickson Carr. As always, I'm not that well-versed in Literary Fiction, but I do enjoy reading this type of text for leisure.
The lines that describe the protagonist's home are flawless. I'm looking forward to how her perspective changes after growing up. I'm also interested to see how the rest of the setting will be depicted in the coming scenes. Lovely first chapter!
An eloquent display of words. I love how much detail is used to describe the scenery and the mother especially. It makes me sad. I will continue reading on to the ending; Curious to see how the story unfolds.
