Searchlight, Nevada

I sliced my fingernail

It hung there

The night cut into its largest crater

It hung there

I lost my belief in God as I was driving

I sunk my head into the sun

And it just…

The words hung off my tongue

And the wheels of my car left the ground

As the white glow drifted in

I reached out to touch it

It was icy cold and crisp

Tasted like vanilla bean

I put my hand to my heart and touched my necklace

It reflected the light

I thought

God left on

To guide me

My wheels touched the ground

and

I slipped my necklace over my rearview mirror

And it just…

The moon fell from the sky and hit the ground

I sunk my head into the sun

And it just…

Hung there

Beautifully.

I love that feeling of dangling that your poem creates. It's like falling but never hitting the ground and just being there. It had some great imagery to it and I liked the idea of the moon falling and sinking their head into the sun. It was all really nicely done.
