Voices in My Head

by Kai Lewis

They’re there when I wake up

They’re there when I go to sleep

I keep on listening

And I don’t know why

I hear voices in my head

Who are they?

What are they?

Are they demons?

Are they angels?

Are they humans?

My mind is so confused

I don’t know what to do

I don’t know where to go

Even when I’m sick

In pain

Or confused

I turn to them

I talk with them

As if they are here with me

They go wherever I go

They don’t want me to be alone

They want me to have friends

And yet they tell me

“We’re your friends.”

“You don’t need anyone else, except us.”

They love me

And I love them

But it feels too good

To be true

Am I wrong in thinking this?

Should I keep on having them?

Should I keep on listening?
