Lady Luna

Lady Luna shuns the sun,

ashamed of what she has become.

In a life so isolated

all positives have been negated;

self-confidence at all-time low

with self respect below zero.

Invisibility – her desire,

while others huddle to conspire

to find a way to cause the tears.

She knows that this way madness nears.

But in the darkness of the night,

when the moon is in her sight,

she feels its pull, cedes to its draw

for with it there’s desire for more.

Stepping out to higher ground

a sense of purpose she has found;

if she could stretch and reach the moon

perhaps she’d find a place with room

to become herself, to simply be,

not constrained by what others see...

Lady Luna, newly woken,

looks down upon herself all broken.

She cannot reach the moon at all

and so she stumbles til the fall.

But lunar glow did so ignite

and into madness

she takes flight.
