A poem about my favorite color and why I love it.

I do so love gray

I do love gray

I love it so much

I love it all on its own

For when I’m surrounded

By gray I’m astounded

Gray make me feel at home

Yellow so bright

As brilliant as white

You drain me ever so

You make me sigh

And I know why

You ask too much you know

You dazzle

You glitter

Stirring a titter

With your growing glow

When you deprive me

Of my energy

I seek the grey

Wherever it might be found

I do love gray

I love it so much

I love it all on its own

For when I’m surrounded

By gray I’m astounded

Gray make me feel at home

Then there is you blue

Kind, faithful and true

In the morning dew

In the seas

In the rains

You slow my head

While I lie in bed

My thoughts are milky

Curdling, growing thick

Easing my mental strains

Although you calm me

I really must tell

Brighter colors

Can make me sick

Refurbishing invisible pains

But when you dance with gray

On a hot summer day

And the winds reshape Gray’s form

I am amazed

Caught in the daze

Of a dark and lovely

Thunderstorm

I do love gray

I love it so much

I love it all on its own

For when I’m surrounded

By you I’m astounded

You make me feel at home

Yellow illuminates tears

And won’t let them hide

But I feel safe, gray

When you’re by my side

You cry along with me

You’re thunder is a hug

It reminds me I am human

When I feel like a slug

No, you are not Ruby

Nor emerald, tangerine or gold

Nor sapphire, nor lilac

Nor pink nor mustard bold

But you are steel and aluminum

You are titanium and silver

You are iron, you are chrome

You are lustrous all your own

Though reasons may vary

And options may depend

You’re unlike any other

You’re my most favorite color

And the answer as to why

I do not need to defend

I do love gray

I love it so much

I love it all on its own

For when I’m surrounded

By gray I’m astounded

You make me feel at home

Has the feel of a color adventure in a children's book. Perhaps you could seek an illustrator. Morning due or morning dew? Anyhoo, nice lyric and polychromatic poetic tale. Thanks for the share. Poetic regards, SPP

????Thank you for pointing out the typo, I fixed it (dew). I’ve wanted to write a children’s book for some time. Thank you for the idea and your review!

Very nice comfortable poem to read. Gray cloudy fall days are my favorite. Feels like a gray blanket over you as you hike in the woods.

Mine too! The contrast of a gray sky and autumn leaves is so comforting! If you haven’t been, walk through the Red Wood Forest. Any words used to describe the experience of standing beneath those trees won’t compare to being there! Especially on a misty day!????

Yellow really does impose. Grey is OK :)
