Jays Keep Playoff Hopes Alive With Win

A recap of yesterday's Toronto/Minnesota Game Four of four.

The Toronto Blue Jays are now just a game back of Boston Red Sox for the final wild card spot, after defeating the Minnesota Twins 5-2 yesterday, splitting the four game series.

"I'm so proud of this team," said Jay's manager, Charlie Montoyo at the postgame press conference.

Montoyo also said he was looking forward to coming home to Toronto.

Toronto's George Springer had three hits, including, a solo home run at the top of the fifth inning.

It was the second straight game that Springer had homered.

George Springer is getting back to himself at the plate.

Danny Jansen opened the scoring for the Jays with a three run homer at the top of the second inning.

Teoscar Herndez had a RBI double for Toronto.

Jay's starting pitcher, Alek Monoah, had a solid outing on the mound yesterday.

Monoah pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs, and struck out eight batters to pick up his third straight win.

Twin's Jake Cave had a RBI single and Byron Buxton hit a solo home run.

Twin's starting pitcher, Griffin Jax pitched five innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs.

Toronto has a day off today before beginning a critical three game series with the New York Yankees tomorrow night.

These 3 games against the Yankees are the Jays playoffs. They need to sweep.
