A poem based on life being too busy but one day you will realise you are alone and will regret not making those calls to loved ones

Memories they linger

In a world so far away

Reminders of the times gone by

The songs of yesterday

Thinking of what’s happening

All the joy I’m missing

Pondering do they think of me?

Or just me reminiscing

Our phone calls are getting shorter

I’m just too busy to text

I’ll do it in the morning

Now time to reflect

Seeing posts from friends

People they have lost along the way

Yearning for that one further talk

For the words they did not say

Now I am reminded

That nothing lasts forever

Time it waits for no one

No matter the endeavour

I’ll power down the devices

Just switch off all I own

Pick up the phone and call you all

For one day, I’ll be alone
