Poem about anxiety attacks

Anxiety Attack

My palms begin to sweat

I begin to panic

I don’t know why

I play with my fingers, digging my nail into my skin until it begins to hurt

My leg bounces up and down

I don’t know why

It keeps getting harder to breathe

I begin to shake

I don’t know why

My heart is pounding out of my chest

Tears fall down my face

I don’t know why

I curl up into a ball and place my head in my knees

I sit in silence crying and shaking

Why is this happening to me?

I just don’t know why

So true! Many anxiety attacks are a result of long-forgotten or deeply buried problems that have accumulated over time. This makes it difficult to pinpoint exactly why someone is anxious. Great job at blending emotion, imagination and accuracy in this poem!

Anxiety attacks are such a hard thing, and it's harder when there doesn't seem to be a reason for why they're happening. I think you captured that so well in your poem.
