My eyes won’t sight

You here by my side

With the tyranny of time

Soon a night will decline

Though I won't hear words

Of your sweet sound birds

With the tyranny of life

We can be alone but fine

But I can't - stop my heart

From feeling your warmth

And I can't - hide this shine

Your memories in my smile

I - can’t hold your hand

Things will fall like sand

I - can’t touch your light

It will disappear in night

So I can't - have this ador

So I can't - go any further

I love your use of en dashes! It shows how hard it is for this speaker to talk about their emotions (or their need hold it in). It's relatable too, as I bet many people have experienced this at one point in time. Lovely poem!

thank you. i used the dashes to make the first line of the same length as the next one. but it kinda turned out well.
thank you for reading it

I agree with Ann. I love the dash. It was like there was a pause. Really good idea. Love your poem Maria.
