The shadows of the night begin to hide beneath the morning rays of light,
as life begins to wake, and dreams begin to fade.
It is the morning ritual of blossoming moments
that are yet to be,
and of unformed memories and unfelt sentiments and passions,
that begin to stir the restlessness of interrupted sleep that never came.

ONLY A MOMENT IN TIME

By Al Garcia

The shadows of the night begin to hide beneath the morning rays of light,

as life begins to wake, and dreams begin to fade.

It is the morning ritual of blossoming moments

that are yet to be,

and of unformed memories and unfelt sentiments and passions,

that begin to stir the restlessness of interrupted sleep that never came.

It is the morning rhythm of the blowing winds of time

that gust against the blurred and muddled mind of man.

Unable to fully comprehend the ambiguity of life

on the edge of perception and deception,

or the very moment when the lightness of being

begins to feel the weightiness of the materializing reality

that surrounds and astounds.

Reality a tapestry of moments and of flashes

that collide with sentiments and passions

that crash upon a field of scattered dreams.

And what becomes reality, and what becomes a dream?

Which is real, which is not?

Is it sleep that brings the dreams, or dreams that wake reality?

And if moments are what defines and explains us,

then are we but a flash of time,

colliding with a dash of stardust and a spark of twilight?

And in this wonder and marvel of time,

of space, of light, and of night,

why is there such sadness and such sorrow

in the briefness of our existence?

We are only a moment in time.

Yet, we live as if we are invincible and invulnerable,

when we know that dreams fade away

when the morning rays of light begin to overtake

the shadows of the night.

And then I’m left to wonder,

which is real,

the night or the light?
