You only get it one time

The dark underbelly

That day I felt good
That day was so good
So many days were so good
I feel sick.

Why think of that, those.
Memories, very clear
Never to be again
Only joy, ambrosia to the living

Why? To experience
Wonderful past
Smiling, laughing with love
Can it not last, to last a breath?
There is a success

It is once only
Once only to be, feel such
Then slipping
Open your eyes

Blink once it’s gone

I enjoyed your poem, datakon, exploring the fleeting emotion of joy. I particularly liked the line,
’Only joy, ambrosia to the living’

I see you are open to read requests. I’ve written a diamond poem, ‘defiance’. It’s very little more than a quick splatter of words on a page to get me back into contributing to the site. I’d be really interested to get your feedback.

Enjoy your writing !
