Leafs Win Home Opener in Front Of 18,000 Fans

A recap of last night's Montreal/Toronto game.

At the postgame press conference, Toronto Maple Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe said he wasn't happy with his team's performance in the first 10 minutes of last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Leafs, however, managed to win last night 2-1 in front of 18,493 fans at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

It was the first time since March of 2020 that the Leafs played in front of a full capacity crowd at home.

William Nylander broke the 1-1 tie just 1:06 into the third period.

Later in the third, the Leafs killed off a two man advantage.

Montreal's Jonathan Drouin opened the scoring at 7:22 of the first period.

Pierre Engvall tied the game at 10:12 of the first period.

Toronto outshot Montreal 14-11 in a scoreless second period.

Leaf's goalie, Jack Campbell stopped 31 shots.

Canadien's goalie, Jake Allen stopped 28 shots last night.

Toronto is in Ottawa tonight to face the Senators in the battle of Ontario.
