I Am the Gatekeeper

I AM THE GATEKEEPER

Do not enter

It is my job to say

And I take my job seriously

I am the gatekeeper

It is a lonely task

One I took upon myself

For reasons that

I am yet to understand

But I know

I need to be the gatekeeper

Some have tried

Many I have scared away

Successful in my job

I am the gatekeeper

Doomed to a life in solitude

I weep alone

For I am the only person to open the gate

But it remains closed

I am the gatekeeper

And there behind the walls I build

And the heavy gate I guard

Lies in a small iron box

My scared lonely heart
