NAKED PREDATORS

By Al Garcia

Exposed and uncovered.  Unhampered and unfettered by the trappings or wrappings of convention or practice, the new beast among the creatures that roam this sweet land of liberty, has forsaken the heart and soul of those who died and sacrificed for the nobility of being free.

The new beast no more than a fiend, a brute, an ogre, a predator, of ill-conceived and doomed mentality and insolence.  Naked predators, stalking and prowling, where once roamed free the antelope and wolf, and where the wild prairies suckled the elk and the bison.

We have seen the beast before, when native Indians dared to hold their lands, their woods, their templed hills and majestic purple mountains, that sang their song of freedom, before the pilgrims came and took their destiny.  It was the land and the sky, the streams and the lakes, the valleys and the rolling hills, that lured the beast within to dominate, control and even kill, to reign the natives and all creatures, great and small.

It is the nature of the beast and of the naked predator, to seize, to capture, to enslave or to defeat.  And then, to savor the rapture of the conquest and the victory.  And over time, and through the changing seasons, the beast within laid quiet and tranquil, as if in waiting for the moment of commotion, then to once again pounce upon the innocent, and the serenity and normalcy on this land where freedom’s song the gentle breeze once did embrace.

The tortured minds of the naked and the bold, no longer hidden beneath the cloak of decency or civility.  The harbored animosity and hostility of unchained beasts, victorious over time, and over pride and brotherhood.  The tempest overwhelms the glorious land of our pilgrims’ pride, and our attempt to right the wrongs of colonialism, slavery, and of history.

Safeguards overwhelmed by tyrannical leaning tendencies of those too weak to speak, too frail to stand on their own two feet, and too feeble to know or understand the difference between liberty and tyranny.  They only hear the whistle, and sit and wait for the masters to command.  The same old story of weakness and of power that history has recorded in a thousand different places.  This time, however, the ending changes.  History will record, “This time, humanity lost.  The battle is over.  And the pyres burned into the night, as the remnants of what was, lights up the night, along with the distorted and twisted faces of the naked predators who live in the shadows of the night.”

And as we hear the howl of the naked predators at rallies, school board meetings, and in the Halls of Congress, the hills are ablaze with burning crosses, while golden fields and vales abound with lynching trees as far as the eye can see, like white stone markers at Arlington or Gettysburg, all signifying nothing but the debauchery of the human mind, and what human beasts and naked predators have done, and are rising up to do again.  Unquenchable their thirst for blood and tears, and the sacrifice of life.  Ravenous their lust for supremacy of their chosen race.  Unappeasable their hunger and need for power and dominance at any cost.

And no one utters a discouraging word, for fear of being outed as a patriot who believes in law, order, justice, and human dignity.  Ideas and ideals that the Republican Party and the far-right have identified as radical, activist and extremist.  Our Pilgrims’ pride denied and ostracized.  Our heroes of wars, battles, struggles and strives of every kind and type, now demoted to fools for having believed and having sacrificed.

When will naked predators be called out for who and what they are?  When will we begin to point at them, and yell at them, to put their masks back on, cloak their nakedness with the rocks they used to hide beneath, and let the normalcy and serenity of life return, to what it used to be?

They are the beasts of nightmares and of deliriums.  Fiends, brutes, ogres, and predators.  Exposed and uncovered.  Naked for all to see who and what they are, and espousing ill-conceived and doomed mentalities and insolences, and stalking and prowling, where once roamed free the antelope and wolf, and where the wild prairies suckled the elk and the bison, and where we now call the home of the brave and the free, and not just another property owned by Trump to go belly-up and burn, like everything he operates and everyone he touches.
