He keeps me trapped in his gaze.
The bars to my cell cannot be broken.
The metal burns my skin.
He ravages the air.
And I am there in his every inhale.
The intoxicating bondage crushes my bones.
He refuses to let me go.
I close my eyes and try to imagine being free.
For his attention to be soothed by another.
But there is no replacement that can hold itself against Lust.
Obsessive, compulsive, painful.
I am nothing more than the essence of his addiction.
He must overdose every night.
In a cage that never lets me go.
What have I become?
As I oddly find comfort, in this cage.

Ann Sepino
Very dark poem with some powerful imagery. Although the theme is lust, I bet this can be applied to many different obsessions or situations. It has a universal tone to it, imo. Amazing!
