From the boy in my head

To the average teenage male

I see you everyday

In my classroom

With your broad shoulders

And your defined jawline

I stare at you

Always dreaming of being you

The way you wear a leather jacket

How a baggy shirt doesn’t get stuck on your chest

The boy in my mind craves that

A trickle of envy sliding down my spine

My body shouts “pink”

While your hands are stained in toxic “blue”

And the boy in my head thinks

“Will I turn out that way too?”

Will my privilege shine?

Or will the boy in my head

Always be seen with a pink sign

That reads,

“Is this boy just in my head?”
