The daily war

There's a day out there, waiting, lurking like a shadow

full of promise, dread, and nightmares, bursting with

anticipation, knowing what will happen, the light speed hours

that'll pass in a blur; both enemy and savior,

both dreaded and loved, the hands unwinding willfully,

joyfully, seem to taunt you, dare you to slow them as the race

towards tomorrow, where the dance begins again
