"Commemoration: remembrance, typically expressed in a ceremony." -Oxford Dictionaries

We share a cigarette

And our inner selves

That night that I remember

When it was cold

And the only light

Glows from the lantern

Cool and bright in the night

We exhale our pain from our lungs

In clouds of smoke

That dissipate slowly

Lingering, holding on with hope

That they will not be forgotten

You stay while

And have a smile

As we listen to music of all sorts

Your favorite is the one

That makes you remember the most

Pain and joy become synonyms

As you relive your past experiences through stories

First and later tears

And I cannot tell

If you are happy or sad

Or something else entirely

I want to help but it is not my place

The pain is yours as much as mine is mine alone

But please let me help anyways

You don’t have to do it alone
