This was the first poem I wrote in 1983 after my first marriage broke up.

In the beginning it started out looking so good
Cause both of us saw and felt those sparks
We were inseparable in everything that we did
I was in love and I thought I stole your heart

But you must have thought it was just a game
I just wish I'd only known from the very start
When you found someone else who was better
I was eternally scarred when you broke my heart

I was so very hurt and left feeling so unwanted
Unwanted now that's a feeling unlike any other
Like a broken toy a child has thrown out the door
Unwanted like a used car traded in for another

Thrown out like a broken toy...
yep that was me...
Traded in for a better model...
yep that was me...

Unwanted... Unwanted... Unwanted...
