Children don't always say what they mean or mean what they say.

My dear sweet child,

eyes filled with rage,

so tender yet wild

beast in a cage.

What fills your heart

with hatred so?

“I hate you, Mommy!”

you said, you know.

Well, one day you’ll know,

assuming you grow,

how much your mommy means.

The world was dark

and filled with fear,

but along came a spark,

so full of cheer.

The thought of you

so small unseen,

was all she knew

yet she was keen.

A queen of queens

lies in your genes.

How much your mommy means!

Long sleepless nights

and tireless days

so filled with frights

and dark malaise.

She shushed your fears,

forgot her own,

wiped away tears,

faced the unknown.

When you’re fully grown,

then you will have known,

how much your mommy means.

Should it arise—

some future day—

a big surprise

comes on your way

And you become

a mommy too,

you’ll make a sum

of all you knew.

Her love was for you

golden days and blue

and through all these remembered scenes

how much, how much, how very much…

…your only Mommy means.

This was an exquisite poem. I found the words touching. Your poem made me recall a memory from when I was a girl. I used to tell my mother I hated her over the dumbest things, and since she passed away, I have always regretted saying those things to her. Your words made me realize a mother will love their child regardless of what they say. Thank you.

My mums means everything to me! I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for mother's mothering! I would live in fear, or nothing of me would ever appear

Thoughts Before Rem

This was beautifully put together man I really mean it. Seriously and the subject is great. You never know how important something or someone is until you lose them or have the theater of losing them. Great work

Thanks for writing.
