Two boys must face the consequences of not obeying their mother.

Peter and Paul were two brothers.

You never saw one without the other

and they would not obey their mother

or their father or their nurse.

They were not a blessing, they were a curse.

They would not be quiet or still.

They made mischief all day and would play

where they were not supposed to play.

They were not obedient in any way.

One day

they were playing when it grew late

and their mother called for them

and told them to come to their beds,

but Peter and Paul would not listen to her

and refused to do what she said.

Their mother told them that if they did not do it,

the forest giant would come in the night and chop off their heads.

Peter and Paul still refused to do what they were told

and they would not come to their beds.

When their mother went outside in the morning,

she saw their bodies, bereft of the heads.
