A recap of last night's Detroit/Toronto game.

John Tavares got three points last night.

John Tavares had a goal and two assists in a Toronto Maple Leaf's 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings last night.

At the postgame press conference, Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe said he was impressed how his team played in the first 10 minutes of the game.

"I really liked our first 10 minutes for sure," said Keefe.

Keefe, however, also said his team did not play good the whole 60 minutes, though.

Jake Muzzin opened the scoring for the Leafs at 19:46 of the first period.

Filip Zadina tied the game at 8:19 of the second period.

Michael Bunting put the Leafs ahead 2-1 at 19:42 of the second.

Alex Kerfoot scored for Toronto Just 17 seconds into the third period.

Toronto's Mitch Marner scored his first goal of the season at 17:55 of the third.

Joe Veleno, Vladislav Namestnikov, and Filip Hronek also scored for Detroit in the third.

Toronto's goalie, Petr Mrazek stopped 27 shots.

Zadina and Veleno both got two points.

Detroit's goalie, Thomas Greiss stopped 33 shots.

The Red Wings are now 4-3-2 and Toronto is 4-4-1.

Toronto hosts the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
