The northern lights shimmer majestically in the night sky.

I’ve heard the many words they use to explain you.

They should have known better than to bother.

You are magic – to say anything else would be false.

Spreading across the sky like a ribbon of bending light,

You reach beyond the limits of my sight.

Would that I could bottle you,

And feel every day the wonder,

Of gazing up at your shimmering breadth.

All I can do instead is gaze up from under,

And wish for this moment to never find its death.

Looking at you now,

I’m not bothered by the encroaching winter’s chill,

Or the drifting of the moments pushing me to later hours.

I just want to watch until my soul has had its fill.
