A recap of last nights Vegas/Toronto game.

Auston Matthews scores twice.

Auston Matthews scored two goals last night in a 4-0 Toronto Maple Leaf's win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

"I thought right from the start we took control of the game," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the postgame press conference.  "I thought we did what we needed to do."

Keefe also said that his team was really good on special teams last night.

Simply put, Toronto outplayed Vegas.

The Leafs outshot the Golden Knights 34-26.

Mitch Marner opened the scoring at 11:31 of the first period with a spectacular spin around backhand shot.

Marner also had two assists.

Matthews scored at 2:59 and 19:15 of the second period.

William Nylander scored just 2:43 into the third period.

Nylander also had an assist.

Leaf's goalie, Jack Campbell stopped 26 shots.

Vegas goalie, Robin Lehner stopped 29 shots.

Toronto's T.J. Brodie played in his 700th career regular season game last night.

Toronto hosts the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, tomorrow night.
