Changes 33 yrs on.

One day older,
Another page turned.
A half century later
And what have I learned.

That all I thought I knew was fact,
was speculation at its best.
It's not what's known, but how you act,
Towards others, that's the test!
All that once, I held as true
& worthy of my gaze.
Fades into nothing next to you,
It fades into a haze.

Your brilliance is blinding,
It far exceeds the light.
As you have faced the darkness,
Not taken by its plight.
But standing tall, amidst the fear.
Your back against the wall,
Taking in the disapproving leer,
Refusing to feel small.

But;

When there's no explanation,
Or context from which to glean.
With confusing retorts to questions of sorts. It bothered me & what it might mean.
I tried to make clear, that you I held dear & would always be here if you needed.
I loved you that's true, but all of this grew,
into something that's quite evil seeded.

before you remembered, who i really was and how many times, that I'd been there.
The countless times you walked away,
It never seemed quite fair.
On every occasion, I knew you still,
But never just once, did you know me.
The years would roll by, and out the corner of your eye.
Just me, a stranger, you still cannot see...

Interesting. Well put. Trying to interpret it. I think I emphasise more with the mentally unstable person. Sometimes it hurts more to let people into your life than to shut them out, for lack of trust, not necessarily on part of the affected party.

So while this behaviour is undoubtedly hurtful and ostensibly cruel and cold, it may feel necessary for one to act in such a way so as to protect themselves, probably due to past trauma. Speaking from anecdote, is all, could be way off..

Nice piece

Prism Persona

This is an intriguing and unique piece. Deep and personal, the voice feels firm, yet calm and controlled. Excellent work! :)
