an envious king jealous of a blue rose that a peasant owns
at what lengths will he go to own the rose

Blue Rose
By  Douglas Bourdon

A king with a huge amount of riches loved to brag about all of his wealth and treasures.
One day the king spotted a male peasant from his window who was carrying a shiny blue rose.
Roses do not normally appear in the color blue so the king was so envious that he yelled for the guards to usher the peasant into the castle.

“you there peasant where have you found that rose of the color blue, blue as the summers sky. “ I must have that blue rose.”

“My family grows these roses in a faraway land.” “where the weather is perfect for blue roses to blossum”.

“what will you take for this rose my dear peasant.”

The peasant boy being ever so smart knew that his rose was not worth much but he could get much out of the king.

“For one sword king you may have my rose.”

“Only one sword of course you may have one sword.”

“I do not know king my rose is very unique, who else in the land can say they own a blue rose.”

“ You are quite right indeed , no one does.” “That is why I will add a guard from my castle to protect you.” “ This guard added  should be enough for a deal for your rose to be made.”

“ A guard of my own , What a great day.” “ Although king  I would feel better with one of your horses.”

“One of my horses , oh whell I have many.” “Take whichever you want I have plenty.” “ for as long as I am the king with this rose all of my subjects will be jealous from their heads to their toes.”

“ king I ask what is a horse whithout anywhere to ride it”.

“What else do you want , for I am a king who whithout that rose has no pride.”

“ For this rose king I ask for your land.”

“ I shall give you my land, if for that rose that is what you demand.”

“ Although king what is some land without a place to call home.”

“ I have the perfect place for you in mind.” you can pick any room , each perfect none better to find.”

“ I need more than just one room king, for this rose I ask for you castle , if that seems too much it is ok , I will go no need to hastle.”

“Wait peasant please do not go.” “ I must have be the king who is the owner of this rose , to which all will know.”

“If you must have it , king our deal is complete.” “you are now the proud owner of a rose quite unique.”

“ Thank you , thank you “. The king said with glee. “ now that I have this rose I will be on my way to show all my subjects this rose all through the day.”

Just as the king said , the king headed away , bragging to everyone he seen that day. Person to person he would brag and he would say.  “ I am the king who owns this blue rose.” “ Does anyone else own a blue rose , the answer is no.”

One of the subjects laughed at his remark and replied. “ how can you be a king without a guard or castle.” “you have nothing except a blue rose.” “ trading your kingdom for that rose is what you chose.” “ you are now a common peasant all you own is that rose , a fate that only a jealous fool would have chose.” “ The peasant that came to see you today, from this day forward in the castle as a king he shall stay.”

One that dwells on what they do not own will lose sight of everything that they already had.
