HUMOUR. A MATTER OF FAITH?

Religion Koan

It may sound odd,

But what God

Do people worship

In Shirley Temple?

I don't know the context of this so I can't offer a witty remark, but I suppose they worshipped her ability and envied her fame. In our culture, we finally listened to Nietzsche, after ignoring him in his life, like the doctor who was shunned and died after a mental breakdown for daring to suggest washing one's hands prevented less childbirth casualties.

We finally listened to him. He said:

"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?"

It appears we ourselves "became gods simply to appear worthy of it", and the sheep follow the herder.
