The Tumultuous Tale of a Total Stranger Double Condensed Poetic Ver.
Wednesday, November 10, 2021 7:27 pm
A double condensed version of my helpless ramblings
Here I am
Still fighting flooding eyes
Still shaking from the pain
As hours later I realize
What exactly I became
I unknowingly wrote
In the place where she used to be
In the darkness of her shadow
You never could see me
You reminded her of your love
But confessed it to me
When I tried to decline
You did not accept my apology
I wasn’t apologizing
She was
But I never new
I sat by the waters of the port
Without so much as a clue
I wrote
In the morning
In the noon
In the night
Beneath the moon
You tried to understand
I took comfort in your kindness
The things we hadn’t told each other
At last came to light
And something you alluded to
Didn’t sit quite right
In an instant it became clear
I was never the one you held most dear
I was never the one in your sight
I was not the woman you were thinking of
I was never intended to receive your love
Remorseful tears shed for not
Heartfelt apologies said for not
Months of pain & months of self-blame spent for not
All of my anguish was for not
Where do I stand?
I feel like a thief
A fool
And a child
I am all of those things
But even at best
I am something else
Something even less
I am a total stranger
You know me from nowhere
And no one
What else is there to say?
I’m just a total stranger
Back in to the moving crowds
I will simply fade away

Oh how painful it must be to have been abandoned by your lover!

Thank you for your comment. Close, but not quite. The man was not my lover. This poem is the end of a series and is best read in context so as to understand the whole story. The whole story goes in this order:
I Broke A Man, Heartbreaker’s Solitaire Parts 1-5, Courage, Spiral, “If and Whenever You Need Me”, Tempest of Tears, Plot Twist, Release, Confidence, Total Stranger.
I wrote these poems in real time as my feelings ached on and as I tried to resolve and then learned the truth of the matter. It was quite the emotional roller coaster. If you have any questions on them as you read, feel free to ask.
Dear Prism Persona,
This is a wonderful poem wrung from (I think) the rejection of the love felt for someone not you.
I like the short line lengths and the complete bite sized stanzas. they add to your raw isolation both during and after this mismatched communication.
Thank you for reviewing my diamond poem, Defiance'. I'd love to hear your thoughts on 'For why this sudden rush of green.'
Keep writing and enjoy!

Dear Panteleon,
Thank you so much for your review. You got the meaning correct. Long story short, it was just a case of mistaken identity. My favorite poems about this whole ordeal are this one and “Tempest Of Tears”.
Your welcome and I look forward to checking out your new poem!
