The place where it all started, Rose~eye's and Mika's unlikely friendship.

Mika is owned by streetdragon95 on Deviantart

It was new year once again, a great time to be getting new clothing, visting distant cousins to catch up, and enjoy all the…

"FOOOOOD!" Rose-Eye exclaimed, spotting a plate with a full chicken on a window ledge.

Well, more specifically, free food. During this time, house owners have a tendency to place finished dishes on the window ledge, considering how crowded the kitchen gets from preparing a big dinner. The perfect time, for stealers, to have a decent meal.

Rose-Eye eyed the window cautiously, already thinking of backup plans in case they spot her. This wasn't her first time after all, and no harm in being overprepared for the worst. As usual, the dish left on the window edge is either forgotten, or brought over to the table last. A great time, to strike.

Rose-Eye jumped up, grabbing the plate of the full chicken as soon as the person in the kitchen left the place, running as fast as she can. Unfortunately for her, it was the latter, that person was coming back for the dish, only to find it missing. A black purple thing caught his eye as he looked out of his window. Grunting in frustration, he grabbed a bat, alerting his extended family.

"Thief on the loose, call animal control! I'm going after it."

Soon enough, Rose-Eye could hear the shouting and car noises behind her. She ran faster, unconsciously flapping her wings at the same time, despite knowing that it won't help one bit. What she didn't expect was that they were close enough, to have a hold on her. A chain was thrown, cuffing one of her legs, slowing her down.

"Uh oh" she thought to herself. She had to think fast, in a matter of minutes the other chains would be thrown, and she wouldn't be able to move anymore. Rose-Eye knew little to nothing about these humans, except that they are terrible. She couldn't imagine what they would do to her..

Trying to run at the same speed she was before being cuffed, she glanced down at the chain, trying to find a weak spot, before looking at the scenery surrounding her. The forest felt like it was just a few meters away, she could be free again! Wasting no time, Rose-Eye heavily nudged her leg forward, ignoring the pain. It broke the chain, causing her to run faster than before, as the green trees and grass welcomed her.

It was good to be around trees and animals again, instead of smelly, noisy monsters, the forest air calming her, assuring her that she was safe. Except... where was she? This part of the forest didn't look familiar at all, which direction was her mother's cave? She sat down, catching her breath, glancing around, whether to stay or move around, risking the chance to be even more lost. "If only I could fly.." she thought to herself, staring at her useless wings.

Likewise, a young blue fur dragon, going by the name of Mika, was wandering around. Maybe for too long, because the scent and direction towards home was gone, and he was stuck in unfamilar territory. Walking around didn't help, just made him lose his sense of direction, and going deeper and deeper into the forest. By the time Mika had considered flying to find his way home, he was too deep to figure out where to go.

As unlucky as this day had been for the both of them, the sky started pouring. There was a cave up ahead, big enough to protect them from the stinging rain. Rose-Eye, being closer, entered the cave first, and later on, Mika. Neither one noticed the other had entered. Curling up to get comfortable, they both fell asleep.

The sun was bright enough to force the blue dragon awake. Groaning, Mika tossed and turned, wanting to sleep for a few more minutes. In the moment, he accidentally nudged Rose-Eye, forcing her to mumble something.

"Mom, a few more minutes.. the sun isn't even up yet.."
